OIKOS travels to Brussels to talk about hunting

On Tuesday, April 14, OIKOS together with Legados organized a conference on hunting. The event took place at the European Parliament, Brussels, hosted by Isabel Benjumea, Member of the European Parliament (Spain, EPP) and Vice-President of the Intergroup on Biodiversity, Hunting and Countryside.

The session featured the presentation of the opinion research carried out by Legados, as well as the OIKOS report on a comparative analysis of hunting practices and their socio-economic impact in a selection of European countries.

The event began with institutional opening remarks by:

1. Isabel Benjumea - Member of the European Parliament (Spain, EPP) and Vice-President of the Intergroup on Biodiversity, Hunting and Countryside

This was followed by the presentation of the OIKOS study "Hunting as an economic and ecological engine in Europe", by:

1. Luis Quiroga - Co-founder and President of OIKOS

Next, the opinion study on social attitudes toward hunting in Spain was presented by:

1. Tirso Virgós - Research Coordinator at Legados

Finally, a panel discussion took place, moderated by OIKOS and focused on "The socio-economic contribution of hunting. Political perspectives". The panel featured:

1. Csaba Borboly - member of the European Committee of the Regions
2. Isabel Benjumea - Member of the European Parliament (Spain, EPP) and Vice-President of the Intergroup on Biodiversity, Hunting and Countryside
3. Josep Escandell - President of the Royal Spanish Hunting Federation (RFEC)
4. David Scallan - Secretary General of the European Federation for Hunting and Conservation (FACE)
