Decarbonisation of industry in Spain

Decarbonisation of industry in Spain

Fecha: 29 Octubre 2025

Authors: Jorge Alarcón, Luis Quiroga

The new report on industrial decarbonisation by OIKOS defends a pragmatic approach to boosting Spain's competitive advantage in renewable power generation. Focusing on the electrification of medium- and low-temperature industrial processes, OIKOS proposes harmonizing European aid for electro-intensive industry, as well as optimizing incentives to capture Spain's advantage in low- and medium-temperature industries through innovative instruments such as Carbon Savings Certificates.

Decarbonisation is an opportunity to strengthen the competitiveness of our industry, provided it is accompanied by incentives that integrate a cost-benefit analysis.
