Presentation of the report "Road Transport Decarbonisation: Diagnosis and Proposals"

On April 26, 2023, OIKOS officially presented the results of the report at Impact Hub, Madrid, through a series of presentations and a panel discussion that gathered experts and representatives from the transport sector.

First, José López-Tafall, director of ANFAC (Spanish Association of Automobile and Truck Manufacturers) offered an overview of road transport decarbonisation and progress in electric vehicle penetration in our country, compared to our European partners.

Next, Luis Quiroga, co-founder of OIKOS, presented OIKOS and our vision on environmentalism and climate and environmental policy, and outlined the main findings of the report. Luis emphasized the need for a pragmatic approach that prioritizes critical points where electrification is most accessible for a higher emissions reduction potential, such as intensive users.

In particular, freight and heavy commercial transport represent a rapid electrification opportunity with high decarbonisation potential. Luis also mentioned specific proposals such as a public guarantee scheme to facilitate access to financing for self-employed hauliers and micro-entrepreneurs, detailing the total cost of ownership dimensioning modeled in the report evaluating the impact of various measures on effectiveness, efficiency, and progressivity. 

Finally, OIKOS organized a panel discussion to delve deeper into the report's conclusions and learn the vision of industry experts.
