El Mundo has published an article on OIKOS's report on the ecological transition in Spain, highlighting that the country could lose up to 210,000 jobs and experience a 2 percentage point increase in inflation over the next four years if it does not coordinate its decarbonisation with the European Union.
The study notes that a disorderly transition could cut up to 3.3% of Spanish GDP by 2027, due to the country's economic vulnerability to climate change and the lack of structured measures. In contrast, a well-planned transition aligned with the EU would soften negative effects and generate a net positive employment balance in the long term.
The report stresses that the lack of coordination in implementing climate policies could generate a severe economic impact, including recession and loss of purchasing power, making an orderly strategy integrated with European efforts urgent.
