The EU drives decarbonization of the building sector with new guidelines and tools

The Commission has launched a set of regulations and supporting documents for Member States to transpose the EPBD Directive before May 2026. The objective is to reduce energy consumption by 11.7% by 2030, boost renewables in buildings, and strengthen sector competitiveness. The package includes a new methodological framework, common templates for national data, and a technical guide with 13 annexes. The initiative is part of the European Green Deal and aims to accelerate the renovation of a building stock where 75% presents low energy efficiency.
