The investiture of Pedro Sánchez and the swearing-in of his coalition government with Sumar have finally buried the hope of a change of course, in line with other countries, regarding nuclear energy. The agreement between the two parties specifically included maintaining the plan to close Spain's seven reactors between 2027 and 2035 to be gradually replaced in the energy mix by renewable energies. A new report now warns of the "danger" of keeping these plans and of the triple cost they would have for Spain: economic, security of supply, and environmental.
