For too long, the ecological transition has been framed as a pedagogy of sacrifice, built against the average voter and sustained by an accumulation of prohibitions, symbolic gestures and moral reproaches. The result has been a tense, socially fragile and politically unstable debate.

This book stems from a different premise: climate policy cannot be built against the social majority it intends to involve. If it wants to be lasting, it must start with the concrete —with the energy bill, with energy costs, with security of supply— and move from there toward the climate. Not the other way around.

Timoner and Quiroga also defend a central thesis: we are curbing climate change thanks to capitalism, not despite it. The effective reduction of emissions has been driven by technological innovation, economic incentives and private investment, not by degrowth or hyper-regulation. Faced with an environmental agenda that has drifted into ideological identity, the book proposes recovering an approach based on realism, economic freedom and efficacy in results.
