The Ministry for the Ecological Transition is studying the proposal by Iberdrola and Endesa to delay the shutdown of nuclear power plants planned between 2027 and 2035. Minister Sara Aagesen sets three conditions: avoid extra costs for consumers, comply with CSN safety requirements, and guarantee power supply. The electric utilities claim that extending operational life would lower bills and request tax cuts such as the removal of eco-taxes. The debate focuses on Almaraz, which could extend its operation until 2030. A final decision is not expected before 2026.
