An ECB study reveals that heavier polluting companies pay higher interest rates in the Eurozone. Companies with higher carbon emissions face an additional cost of 0.14 percentage points on their loans. Furthermore, those committed to reducing emissions obtain cheaper financing. During periods of monetary tightening, "brown" companies suffer greater increases in their financial costs, while "green" ones are less affected. Although financial regulation is better integrating climate risks, experts warn that the climate risk premium will continue to rise due to growing regulatory pressure and improved bank assessment.
