Green skills in Spain: moderate, but key to meeting climate targets

Green skills represent only 4% of employment in Spain, in line with the European average, but concentrated in traditional sectors such as agriculture and waste management. This profile is associated with older individuals and lower educational levels.
Spain excels in skills linked to biodiversity, but shows gaps in key areas such as renewables and energy efficiency, which are essential to achieve the PNIEC target of increasing solar and wind installed capacity by 124% between 2025 and 2030. Strengthening training in these areas is urgent to respond to the growing demand for professionals and guarantee an effective ecological transition.
